Sidestnd Plus

Sidestnd Plus does away with some of the limitations of a basic free Sidestnd account. Sidestnd Plus is aimed at (and can only be purchased by) organisations. It offers the following benefits:

• Private context functionality
• Traffic allowance
• Support

Purchase Sidestnd Plus at the AWS Marketplace or directly (Australian customers only).

• a standard URI is (example): https://<sidestnddomain>/works/{workid}
• suppose that a organisation wants to publish under its own domain name, for example https://myorg.com/shared/metadata/works/{workid}
  • or even rename 'works' to something else
• after taking a subscription on AWS Marketplace, the organisation receives a private context code
• using the private context code has two effects:
  • the private context code can be used in URIs, for example https://<sidestnddomain>/hft2gsf4ha6s/works/{workid}
    • this is an alternate URI - it does not replace the original URI
    • the private context can be used to configure a reverse proxy when embedding Sidestnd. For example, nginx can rewrite or redirect https://myorg.com/shared/metadata/works/{workid} to https://<sidestnddomain>/hft2gsf4ha6s/works/{workid}
  • it is used as a variable in cookies, which is used to determine the traffic limits

There is no free lunch; embedding Sidestnd only works if the organisation that wants to do the embedding runs nginx or something similar. However, this is considerably less work than hosting Sidestnd. It is also more stable: the only change is (crucial) updates to nginx. If hosting Sidestnd is preferred then feel free to contact to discuss options.
